EZVIZ camera buying guide: indoor or outdoor, Wi-Fi or PoE, storage and power
Almost every EZVIZ camera here is set up and watched through the EZVIZ app on your phone. The choice comes down to where the camera goes, how much it has to see, how it connects, and where the footage is kept.
1. Indoor or outdoor
EZVIZ splits its range into indoor and outdoor cameras (EZVIZ). On this page the indoor models are the H1C, C6N, H6C, H6C Pro, H6C G1 and H7C Dual. The outdoor models are the fixed C3N, C3W, H3C, H4 and H5 PoE, and the pan-tilt H8C, H8C Pro, H8 Pro, H9C Dual and H90 Dual.
The difference is more than a sturdier case. EZVIZ rates the indoor H6C for -10°C to 45°C (EZVIZ) and the outdoor H8C for -30°C to 50°C (EZVIZ). The H3C 2K bullet is rated IP67 (EZVIZ), which means it is sealed against dust and can survive being briefly submerged. Fit an outdoor camera under an eave if you can. The shade keeps it cooler in a Terai summer and keeps monsoon rain off the lens.
2. Fixed, pan-tilt or dual-lens
A fixed camera points one way. The H1C sees 91° across (EZVIZ), enough for a small room from a corner. A pan-tilt camera turns on its base. You can move it from the app, and it can follow a moving person by itself: EZVIZ says the H6C locks on and turns to track movement it detects, and the outdoor H8C turns 350° side to side and 80° up and down.
Dual-lens models put two cameras in one body. On the H9C Dual 3K, a fixed 2.8 mm lens covers a wide 110° view while a 6 mm lens below it pans and tilts for a closer 56° view (EZVIZ). The indoor H7C Dual is built the same way. One dual-lens camera keeps a wide view and a close-up going at the same time, a job that would otherwise take two cameras.
3. Resolution and night vision
The name tells you the resolution. 1080p is 1920 × 1080, as on the H6C. 2K is 2304 × 1296, or 3MP, on the H8C Pro 2K (EZVIZ). 2K+ is 2560 × 1440 on the H7C Dual (EZVIZ), and 3K is 2880 × 1620, or 5MP, on the H8 Pro 3K (EZVIZ). More pixels let you make out a face or a number plate from further away, but they also fill the memory card faster. For a living room, 1080p or 2K is plenty.
After dark the cameras switch to infrared and show black and white. EZVIZ quotes up to 10 m for the indoor H6C and up to 30 m for outdoor models such as the H8C. Many outdoor models, including the H3C, H5 PoE and H8C, also have built-in spotlights that give a colour picture at night, and the H8C and H8 Pro can sound a siren and flash those lights to warn someone off (EZVIZ). Human shape detection, listed on models such as the H8C and H3C 2K, is there so the app alerts you to people rather than to every movement.
4. Wi-Fi, network cable, PoE or 4G
Most EZVIZ cameras here join 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. That's what EZVIZ lists for the H6C, H8C and H9C Dual 3K. Keep your router's 2.4 GHz band switched on, and check the signal where the camera will go, because an outdoor camera usually has a wall between it and the router. The H7C Dual also takes 5 GHz, but you choose the band during setup and can't change it later (EZVIZ). Where the Wi-Fi is weak, many models, the H6C, H8C and H9C Dual among them, have an Ethernet port, so you can run a network cable from the router instead.
The H5 PoE and H8C PoE are wired cameras. EZVIZ lists only a network port on them, and they take power either over that cable from a PoE switch or from a 12V adapter (EZVIZ, EZVIZ). One cable then does both jobs, and it doesn't drop out the way a weak Wi-Fi signal can. See PoE switch price in Nepal.
For a site with no internet line, such as a farm, a warehouse or a building site, the 4G models take a Nano SIM and send video over mobile data. EZVIZ says the H8C 3MP 4G can't use Wi-Fi at all (EZVIZ). The H8C Pro 3K 4G works on Wi-Fi and switches to 4G when the Wi-Fi drops (EZVIZ), and the H9C Dual 3K 4G takes both too (EZVIZ). You need a SIM with an active data plan, and live viewing uses that data, so choose a pack with room to spare.
5. Storage: microSD card and CloudPlay
EZVIZ cameras save video to a microSD card inside the camera. Most models here take a card of up to 512 GB, including the H1C, H8C, H3C 2K and H9C Dual 3K, while the H6C and BM1 take up to 256 GB. EZVIZ lists the card as sold separately on models such as the H3C 2K and H9C Dual 3K, so add one to your budget. Pick a card made for nonstop recording; see microSD card price in Nepal. Setting the camera to record only when it detects motion makes a card last far longer than recording all day.
EZVIZ also sells CloudPlay, a paid subscription that keeps clips online, so they're safe even if someone takes the camera. EZVIZ says it's only available in certain markets (EZVIZ), so check in the app whether it's offered for your account.
6. Power and power cuts
Indoor models run from a small 5V adapter: EZVIZ lists DC 5V/1A and at most 5 W for the H6C. Outdoor models such as the H8C need 12V: DC 12V/1A and up to 12 W (EZVIZ), or 12V/1.5A for the H9C Dual 3K. Apart from the PoE and battery models, each camera needs a socket or an adapter cable at the spot where it's mounted, so plan the wiring before you drill.
Battery cameras need no power cable. The BM1 has a 2000 mAh battery that EZVIZ rates at about seven hours in always-on mode (EZVIZ), and EZVIZ gives it a baby activity detection mode, so it suits carrying from room to room rather than guarding a gate. The CB3 is listed here as a 120-day battery camera; the more clips it records, the sooner it needs charging. The EZVIZ Solar Charging Panel-C can top up an outdoor battery camera, but check it fits your model first.
In a power cut a mains-powered camera stops, and so does your Wi-Fi router. To keep recording and phone alerts going, put the camera's adapter and the router on backup power; see UPS price in Nepal.

EZVIZ camera FAQ
Do EZVIZ cameras need a monthly subscription?
No. They record to a microSD card inside the camera, which you buy once. CloudPlay, EZVIZ's cloud storage, is an optional paid extra, and EZVIZ says it's only offered in certain markets.
Do EZVIZ cameras work with 5 GHz Wi-Fi?
Most models here join 2.4 GHz only, including the H6C, H8C and H9C Dual 3K. The H7C Dual, H8C Pro 3K 4G and H9C Dual 3K 4G also take 5 GHz. If your router broadcasts both bands, keep 2.4 GHz switched on.
Which EZVIZ camera should I use outdoors?
One from the outdoor range. A bullet such as the H3C or H4 watches one spot, like a gate or a door. A pan-tilt such as the H8C can turn to cover a whole yard, and a dual-lens H9C watches two views at once. Keep indoor models such as the H6C and H7C Dual under a roof.
What size memory card does an EZVIZ camera take?
Up to 512 GB on most models here, such as the H8C, H3C 2K and H9C Dual 3K, and up to 256 GB on the H6C and BM1. Check the product page for the model you choose before you buy the card.
Can I watch my EZVIZ camera on my phone?
Yes, in the EZVIZ app, from anywhere with internet. The app shows live video, plays back recordings from the card and sends motion alerts. Models with two-way talk, such as the H6C and H8C, also let you speak through the camera.
Which EZVIZ cameras do you sell?
Indoor pan-tilt cameras (H6C, H6C Pro, H6C G1, C6N, H7C Dual), the H1C fixed indoor camera, outdoor fixed cameras (C3N, C3W, H3C, H4, H5 PoE), outdoor pan-tilt cameras (H8C, H8C Pro, H8 Pro, H9C Dual, H90 Dual), 4G models, and the BM1 and CB3 battery cameras, plus a wall bracket and a solar panel.
