Where’s the serial number?
It’s usually on a sticker marked S/N or Serial No. Pick your product to see where to look.
Laptop
- Turn the laptop over. The serial number is on the sticker underneath, usually next to a barcode and marked S/N.
- On a Windows laptop you can also open PowerShell and run this:
Get-CimInstance Win32_BIOS | Select-Object SerialNumber - Using a MacBook? See the tab.
iPhone: use the IMEI
- For an iPhone, enter the IMEI, not the serial number. That’s how we record iPhones.
- Open Settings › General › About and scroll down to IMEI. Or dial *#06#.
- If you see two IMEIs, try the first one. The IMEI is also printed on the box.
Mac, iPad, Apple Watch and AirPods
- Mac: click the Apple menu and choose About This Mac. On a MacBook it’s also printed underneath.
- iPad: open Settings › General › About and look for Serial Number.
- Apple Watch: on the watch, open Settings › General › About.
- AirPods: it’s printed under the lid of the charging case. Or on your iPhone, open Settings › Bluetooth and tap ⓘ next to your AirPods.
Printer
- Look for the label on the back of the printer, or inside when you open the front cover or the ink or toner cover.
- Most printers can also print a configuration or status page from their menu, and the serial number is listed on it.
Monitor, UPS, speakers and PC parts
- Check the label on the back or underneath. The serial number is marked S/N or Serial No.
- For graphics cards, SSDs, RAM and other parts, it’s on the sticker on the part itself, and on the box.
On the box
- Still have the box? The label on it usually shows the serial number next to a barcode marked S/N.
- For iPhones, the box label shows the IMEI.
