Gaming monitor buying guide: refresh rate, resolution and connection
A gaming monitor is about speed: how many frames it can show each second, and how cleanly. Your graphics card decides how much of that you'll use. For panels, sizes and VESA mounts, see the monitor buying guide on monitor price in Nepal.
1. Match refresh rate and resolution to your graphics card
A 180Hz monitor only looks like 180Hz when the game runs at around 180 frames per second, so choose resolution and refresh rate together with your card. Full HD at 180Hz, as on the MSI G255F, is the easiest for mid-range cards and suits fast shooters. QHD at 180Hz, like the MSI MAG 275QF, is sharper on 27 inches but needs a stronger card. 4K at 160Hz, as on the MSI MAG 274UPF E2 (MSI), needs a high-end card to reach those frame rates in new games.
Adaptive sync, sold as AMD FreeSync or NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible, matches the screen to your frame rate so the picture doesn't tear. MSI lists FreeSync on the G255F from 48 to 180Hz (MSI). Our graphics card guide helps you match the card.
2. Connect with DisplayPort, or HDMI 2.1 for a console
Many gaming monitors only reach their top refresh rate over DisplayPort. The Dell S3220DGF is rated for 165Hz on DisplayPort and 144Hz on HDMI (Dell), and the MAG 275QF has the same kind of split, 180Hz against 144Hz (MSI). Check that your graphics card has a DisplayPort output and use a DisplayPort cable.
For a PS5 or Xbox, look for HDMI 2.1. The MSI MAG 275UPD E14 has two HDMI 2.1 ports rated for 4K at 144Hz, and MSI lists console modes up to 120Hz with VRR for both consoles (MSI).
3. Response time, panel type and curve
For fast games, compare GtG response times: MSI rates the G255F at 1ms GtG (MSI) and the MAG 275QF at 0.5ms GtG (MSI). Some makers quote MPRT instead, which is a different measure, so don't set an MPRT figure against a GtG one.
Both of those MSI models use Rapid IPS panels, which are quick and keep good colour. VA panels give deeper blacks and often come curved: the MSI G27C3F is a 1500R curved VA panel rated at 3000:1 contrast (MSI). A curve helps most on 27 inches and up, where the edges are further from your eyes.

Gaming monitor FAQ
Is 144Hz or 180Hz better for gaming?
180Hz is smoother, but only when your PC reaches that many frames per second. If your games run well below 144 frames per second, a 180Hz screen adds little. Spend the difference on the graphics card instead.
Should I buy a 1080p or 1440p gaming monitor?
1080p on 24 or 25 inches suits fast shooters and mid-range graphics cards. 1440p on 27 inches is sharper and suits stronger cards. 4K needs a high-end card to run new games at high frame rates.
Can I use a gaming monitor with a PS5?
Yes, over HDMI. For 4K above 60Hz the monitor needs HDMI 2.1, which the MAG 275UPD E14 and the MAG 274UPF E2 both have.
Which gaming monitor brands do you sell?
Acer, AIWA, AOC, BenQ, Dell, Gigabyte, Lenovo, MSI, Redmi, Technos, Vartex, ViewSonic and Xiaomi. Every price on this page is our current website price.
