Kyocera printer buying guide: ECOSYS desktop models and TASKalfa copiers
Kyocera's range here splits in two. ECOSYS models are black-and-white A4 laser all-in-ones for a desk or small office, and TASKalfa models are A3 copiers for offices, schools and print shops. For the basics, see the printer buying guide on printer price in Nepal.
1. ECOSYS: A4 mono laser all-in-ones
The ECOSYS M2040DN, MA2000W and ECOSYS MA4000x print, copy and scan in black. The MA4000x prints up to 40 A4 pages a minute, prints both sides as standard, and has a 50-sheet document feeder that scans both sides in one pass (Kyocera).
Kyocera says the MA4000x is built with long-life components, so day to day the part you replace is the toner, and the toners are large. Kyocera rates the TK-1270 for the MA4000x at 10,000 A4 pages (Kyocera) and the TK-1170 for the M2040dn at 7,200 (Kyocera), both to ISO/IEC 19752. The starter toner in the box is smaller, at 3,600 pages for each model.
2. TASKalfa: A3 copiers in mono and colour
The TASKalfa models copy, print and scan up to A3. The black-and-white ones are the TASKalfa 2020, TA 2201 and TASKalfa 2321. Copiers like these are often sold in a basic form with extras added: Kyocera's spec sheet for the 2321 gives a 400-sheet paper supply as standard, but lists the duplex unit, document feeder and network card as options (Kyocera). Ask us which of these a machine has before you buy.
The TASKalfa 3253ci and TASKalfa 3554ci are the colour models. The 3554ci comes with two 500-sheet cassettes and a 150-sheet multi-purpose tray that takes paper up to SRA3 (320 x 450 mm), and its document processor is an option (Kyocera).
3. Toner and power

Laser machines draw a lot of power while printing: Kyocera lists 574.4 W for the MA4000x (Kyocera). APC suggests giving a laser printer its own circuit and a surge protector rather than a small UPS (APC).

Which Kyocera toner do I need?
Check the TK code on your old cartridge or in the manual. The ECOSYS MA4000x takes TK-1270, rated at 10,000 pages, and the ECOSYS M2040dn takes TK-1170, rated at 7,200 pages.
Does a Kyocera TASKalfa copier come with a document feeder and duplex?
Not always. Kyocera lists both as options for the TASKalfa 2321, so check the product page or call us to confirm what's included with the machine you want.
