iOS 27 and iOS 26 (2026): Release Dates, New Features, Supported iPhones and How to Update in Nepal

iOS 27: what’s new

Apple announced iOS 27 at WWDC on 8 June 2026 and released it on 14 September 2026. Apple says it brings Siri AI and more than 250 other new features and changes. The ones you’ll notice:

• Siri AI: a more capable, more personal Siri with its own app. It needs an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, and some advanced on-device Siri AI features are limited to the iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro.
• Liquid Glass, refined: a slider to make the glass look clearer or more tinted.
• Faster everyday use: quicker app launches and AirDrop.
• Two iPhones, one number: Handoff between two iPhones that share a number.
• Find My: more control over who you share your location with.
• CarPlay: video playback while the car is parked.

Which iPhones get iOS 27?

iOS 27 supports exactly the same iPhones as iOS 26, so if your iPhone got iOS 26 it gets iOS 27 too:

• iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Duo
• iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, iPhone Air and iPhone 17e
• iPhone 16, 15, 14, 13, 12 and 11 series
• iPhone SE (2nd generation and later)

iOS 26 was the update that dropped the iPhone XR, XS and XS Max, which stay on iOS 18.

Does Apple Intelligence work in Nepal?

Apple says Apple Intelligence is available “in most regions around the world” but doesn’t publish a country list, and Nepali is not one of its languages. It works when your iPhone’s language and Siri language are both set to the same supported language, such as English. It runs on the iPhone Duo, iPhone 16 and later, iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, and iPhone Air. At iOS 27’s launch Siri AI spoke only English; iOS 27.2 added French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish.

iOS 26: what it brought

iOS 26 arrived on 15 September 2025. Its biggest change was the Liquid Glass design across the system, along with Live Translation in Messages, FaceTime and Phone calls, and wider Visual Intelligence. It supports iPhone 11 and later and iPhone SE (2nd generation).

How to update to iOS 27

Apple’s steps: back up your iPhone, plug it in, connect to Wi-Fi, then go to Settings > General > Software Update and tap Download and Install. To get future updates automatically, turn on Automatic Updates on the same screen.
